Why calculating the price on the weight and not on the volume like other 3d printing companies ?

You only pay for what we print. When you base the price on the volume of an object you also pay for the almost empty part inside it (infill).

When we base the price on the object weight, you really pay for what we print, if you need a lighter or stronger infill, you'll pay the right price.

How to calculate my model weight ?

Procedure to calculate weight using slic3r

We can check the theoretical weight for you for free, but if you want to measure it by yourself, here is a simple way :

  1. Download slic3r http://slic3r.org/download
  2. Load your parameters into slic3r, namely infill percentage and filament diameter 1.75mm.
  3. Load your model file (.STL), and export it to gcode.
  4. Open up your .gcode file and look at the end for the line stating "; filament used  = 8689.4mm (20.9cm3)"
  5. The volume in cm3 that you can see is almost equivalent to its weight. Multiply the volume by the plastic density, and you get its weight. (PLA density: 1.25 g/cm^3, ABS density : 1.04 g/cm^3).
